The president of the Dominican Confederation of Micro, Small and Medium Construction Companies (Copymecon), Elisha Christopherwelcomed yesterday the decision of the Constitutional Court that eliminated the obligation to place in the Agricultural bank rent deposits so that a landlord can take legal action against a tenant who doesn’t want to pay.
“Everything that is aimed at transparency in the issue of housing rentals is welcome and receives our support,” he said.
The decision of the Constitutional Court, in his opinion, could stimulate, without a doubt, the purchase of housing for rent, which often becomes a kind of pension for builders or those who acquire those properties.
He explained that he knows of cases that last for years in court without being able to carry out the eviction, because they rely on an outdated lawwhich does not support the owners, but to the tenants.

He stated that one of the situations that arise, when a house is built, or when the owners of housing build or buy to rentIt is the issue of evictions.
He pointed out that the possible non-compliance of the tenants in the long run becomes a problem that leads to loss of money and time.
He stated that the decision of the Constitutional Court was an old demand of the builders for many years, because it constituted an obstacle for the growth of the sector.
The TC declared not in accordance with the Constitution Article 8 of Law 4314, of October 22, 1955.
Situations with a bad tenant
He stated that after renting a home there are difficult situations to carry out an eviction when the tenant destroys the property or stops paying.
Said the owner wraps himself in a court proceeding with the tenant that sometimes takes years to finish.
