The Joint Command of the Armed Forces reported on March 20, 2022 of the seizure of war material in the province of Guayas (southwest), as well as the arrest of three people in the operations.
The seizure took place in Gulf of Guayaquil during military operations of a reconnaissance river patrol, in coordination with naval military intelligence.
The Joint Command stated in a statement that it seized lethal weapons and ammunition of different calibers, including two 32 caliber firearms Mossberg brand millimeters and nine machine gunsUzi brand.
What’s more, two guns 9-millimeter caliber, Glock brand, 10 16-millimeter caliber ammunition, 79 9-millimeter caliber ammunition, three mini Uzi magazines and one Glock magazine.
The military operation carried out over the weekend left three detainees of Ecuadorian nationality, who, along with the seized material, were handed over to the National Police for the corresponding legal procedures.
High levels of violence
In the province of Guayas, there has been a considerable increase in violent acts in recent months, with a large number of robberies, assaults and cases of hired assassins.
