The artist Germán Muñoz will receive this Sunday, in Havana, the National Prize for Circus Arts 2021, in recognition of his vocation and talent shown in Cuba and more than 10 countries in Latin America and Europe.
Descendant of one of the most famous surnames in the history of the Cuban circus, Muñoz is very grateful to his origins, linked to great tightrope walkers of the stature of his father Roberto and his uncle Esteban Muñoz, refers to the press release issued by the National Circus of Cuba.
In 1996 he founded the prestigious Havana Company, whose innovative style has been valued by specialized critics, and defends more than 200 artists that fill circuses, auditoriums and even the Paul VI Hall in the Vatican in the presence of His Holiness, Pope Francis.
Considered a legend of the contemporary Cuban circus, the Cuban artist shared unforgettable moments in his career with figures of universal art, among them, the singers Liza Minelli and Tina Turner, as well as with Princess Estefania of Monaco, the principality in which he acted as triumphant manner.
Among his multiple recognitions, he has the distinctions For National Culture, Raúl Gómez García and the Turán prize for the work of life”, which are conferred by the Ministry of Culture, the Union of Cultural Workers and the Association of Scenic Artists of the Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba.
The delivery ceremony will take place at the Carpa Trompoloco Cultural Center.
