Norma Vega, wife of the prisoner of conscience, told Article 66 that her husband spent four days in the “El Nuevo Chipote” clinic after presenting problems with high blood pressure, joint pain and dizziness.

«Four days before the trial against my husband began, he was admitted to the clinic, and they did not notify me. It wasn’t until I was able to talk to him that I realized what had happened. He added that after Vásquez was admitted to the clinic, he has not been allowed to be evaluated by a doctor again. “Of the two drinks that I bring him every day, only one is given to him, which I consider unfair, because due to the situation he finds himself in, he needs to hydrate,” he reported.
Those responsible for the prison have requested, from the relatives of the driver of the presidential candidate Cristiana Chamorro, Mugasin, a medicine indicated for patients with colon problems.
«Pedro (Vásquez) is having colon problems and needs medical attention. It is unfortunate to see him in the state of malnutrition in which he finds himself, that is why he demands that he be released so that he can be cared for at home, “said Norma Vega.
“All political prisoners are sick”
Norma Vega, who has shared 13 years as Pedro Vásquez’s partner, emphasized that both he and all the hostages of conscience are innocent of all the accusations imposed by Daniel Ortega’s justice system.
“I hope for my husband’s early release, I don’t want him to have a prison house, but if they return him to me under that regime, it would be good because that way I will take better care of him.”

Regarding the sentence imposed on Vásquez, his wife commented that «they spoiled all his dreams, his goals. My husband affirms that he is innocent, that he has stolen from no one and that he is a very responsible and honest man».
«I hope that Pedro is released soon, because I do not want him to have the outcome of Hugo Torres, who died in police custody. God allow the Ortega government to put its hand on its heart and free it,” Norma Vega concluded.
Prosecutor’s Office found him guilty along with former FVBCH workers
In a marathon trial that ended after seven hearings, the Ninth Judge of the Criminal District of Managua, Luden Martin Quiroz Garcia, issued a guilty verdict against five former employees of the defunct Violeta Barrios de Chamorro Foundation (FVBCH). Sentencing is scheduled for March 21.

The Prosecutor’s Office requested eight years in prison for Cristiana Chamorro, 13 for former FVBCH workers, Walter Gómez and Marcos Fletes; seven years for Pedro Vásquez, driver of the presidential candidate; and nine for Pedro Joaquín Chamorro, brother of Cristiana.
The Ortega justice accuses Vásquez of being a necessary collaborator for the crime of money, property and asset laundering.
