Four young people and a teenager are considered fugitives, indicted by the Civil Police of Rio de Janeiro for the gang rape of a 17-year-old student, on January 31st.
Videos are circulating on the internet of the five entering the apartment where the crime occurred. The scenes from the security circuit were incorporated into the investigation opened by the 12th Police Station, which determined the charges.
After the rape, the victim asked her family for help and filed a complaint. She told the police that she received an invitation from a school friend to go to his friend’s house. Upon arriving, the colleague, the only teenager, insinuated that they would do “something different”, which the young woman refused.
In the apartment, she was locked in a room with men who forced her to have sex.
“With the negative [dela]they began to undress and carry out libidinous acts through physical and psychological violence against the victim”, detailed the police, in a press release.
The corporation requested the arrest of the four involved and the apprehension of the teenager. They will be charged with rape and an infraction similar to the crime.
Two of the young people are students at Colégio Federal Pedro II, which opened administrative proceedings against the accused. The raped student also studies at school.
In a note published on social media, the institution said it had opened proceedings to expel the accused students.
“We continue with the procedures to continue the process initiated by the campus management, together with the Rectory and under the guidance of the federal prosecutor’s office to dismiss the two Colégio Pedro II students involved”, informs the college in the statement.
The institution states that it cannot “tolerate the barbarity of gender-based violence in the country” and reported that it welcomed the victim and her family, guaranteeing secrecy about the case.
One of the young people indicted for the crime, João Gabriel Xavier Berthô, is a football player for Serrano FC. The club also announced on social media the player’s removal and the suspension of his contract.
According to the team, the decision to remove the player was made given the seriousness of the situation. “The club vehemently repudiates any form of harassment or violence,” said Serrano, on his social media account.
THE Brazil Agency was unable to locate Xavier Berthô’s defense and is open to demonstrations.
