Venezuela's Constitutional Bloc described "irregular" the appointment of Saab as ombudsman

The Constitutional Bloc of Venezuela denounced the “irregular” designation of Tarek William Saab as the responsible ombudsman. The appointment occurred after Alfredo Ruiz resigned from office.

“The Constitutional Bloc of Venezuela protests and denounces the irregular designation that
made by the National Assembly, as defender of the people (in charge), in the person of the person who until a few days ago held the position of Attorney Generalsince such appointment not only ostensibly violates the provisions of article 280 of the 1999 Constitution and the provisions of articles 26 and 33, paragraph 4 of the Organic Law of the Ombudsman’s Office; but, in addition, fails to meet the criteria of normative and procedural rationality, and moral suitability, governing bodies of the organization of public powers,” they stated in the statement.

However, they considered that the former attorney general “has demonstrated inability and insensitivity to address serious violations of the human rights of political prisoners protected today by the Amnesty Law.”
