Freddy Superlano after his release: Our role has to be to organize ourselves

Freddy Superlano

Freddy Superlano said that instead of “resentment,” he left prison ready to “forgive” for a “new opportunity” for the country. «What took us to jail? Believe that it is possible to conquer that better Venezuela. What took us to jail? Not wanting to give up. What took us to jail? Face it with courage, although some doubt it.”

The national leader of Voluntad Popular Freddy Superlano assured this Saturday the 28th that the role of citizens and the opposition political leadership must be one of organization and “building trust” with the population.

“Today I understand that our role has to be to build trust, today I understand that our role has to be to fill ourselves with positive energy again, today I understand that our role as citizens, as Venezuelans, as political leaders has to be to organize ourselves, to find ourselves again,” said Superlano in an activity in Barinas, after receiving the notification of his full liberation one day before due to the Amnesty Law.

Along with other released political prisoners, Superlano participated in a mass and then a caravan through the streets of Barinas. He also met again with Roland Carreño, with whom he shared a prison at the Sebin Helicoide headquarters and the Rodeo I prison.

Likewise, the VP leader said that “they are willing” to assume these roles “once again” for democracy that, he noted, “must be installed soon in Venezuela.”

He said that he never felt alone while he was in prison, because he was certain “as María Corina (Machado) said to walk the streets of Barinas and the country, so that at the end of the day we will have a president in Miraflores, I believe so.”

Superlano said that instead of “resentment,” he left prison ready to “forgive” for a “new opportunity” for the country. «What took us to jail? Believe that it is possible to conquer that better Venezuela. What took us to jail? Not wanting to give up. What took us to jail? Face it with courage, although some doubt it.

The coordinator of Voluntad Popular returned home in the early hours of February 9 under house arrest after spending 18 months in detention. He was arrested by hooded officials on July 30, 2024, in the midst of the repression unleashed after the presidential elections of that year. On Friday, February 27, the electronic shackle was removed and he was notified of his full freedom.
