The Democratic Unitary Platform demanded this Saturday 28 massive and transparent releases of political prisoners, within the framework of the Amnesty Law enacted a week ago. From January to date, the PUD noted, the release of 618 people, including civilians and military personnel, has been verified.
“For the freedom of all, only political will is needed,” said the Platform, which brings together several opposition parties, in a publication on social network X.
The coalition reaffirmed that, after the approval of the Amnesty Law, “massive, expeditious, public and transparent release processes are necessary that guarantee the freedom of all political prisoners.”
Likewise, they indicated that as of noon this Saturday there are more than 494 people detained for political reasons who must be released.

According to Jorge Arreaza, president of the parliamentary commission for the application of the Amnesty Law, they have been granted 4,757 full freedoms of the 8,110 requests that the authorities have received, which must resolve the requests within a period of 15 days.
Of this total, he noted, 223 people have been released from prison while the rest had their freedoms restricted with “precautionary measures”, such as a prohibition on leaving the country, making statements to the media, or periodic appearances in court.

Lawyers, various organizations and family members have demanded disorganization in the courts to file appeals and claim amnesty, which covers 13 “political events” that occurred between 1999 and January 2026 with an obvious exclusion of military cases.
Lawyer Luis Armando Betancourt denounced on Friday that Judge Luis Ovalles denied the dismissal of the case corresponding to the “Paramacay Case”, as the military assault on the Fort Paramacay, located in Valencia, Carabobo state, by the former captain of the Bolivarian National Guard (GNB), Juan Carlos Caguaripano Scott in August 2017.
