The president of the National Bank for Social and Economic Development (BNDES), Aloizio Mercadante, announced this Friday (27), in São Paulo, the expansion of resources for Nova Indústria Brasil. According to him, by the end of this year the bank will allocate another R$70 billion to the program, totaling R$370 billion since the program was launched in January 2024.
“We are announcing today, here, that we are increasing R$70 billion in credit. We delivered R$300 billion, and we will deliver R$370 billion by the end of this year”, said Mercadante, alongside the vice-president and minister of Development, Industry, Commerce and Services, Geraldo Alckmin.
Nova Indústria Brasil (NIB) is a industrial policy launched by the federal government in early 2024with the aim of boosting the development of national industry by 2033.
The program uses traditional public policy instruments, such as subsidies, low-interest loans, increased federal investments, tax incentives and special funds to stimulate some sectors of the economy.
