The lawyer and director of the non-governmental organization Foro Penal, Gonzalo Himiob, reported during the night of February 27 about the release of military political prisoners in several states of the country.
“The release of military personnel is taking place in several states of the country. It is still not clear whether these releases are linked to the Amnesty Law or are reviews of the custodial measures (precautionary measures),” Himiob wrote in his X account.
Until Tuesday, February 24, Foro Penal counted 182 military political prisoners. After the approval of the Amnesty Law, human rights defenders and organizations asked the Executive, now headed by Delcy Rodríguez, after the capture and extraction of Nicolás Maduro by the US, for the release and inclusion of these people in the recently approved amnesty law.
