This Friday afternoon, a private aircraft from the Los Roques archipelago made a forced landing at the Simón Bolívar Airport in Maiquetía, after reporting critical mechanical failures in its landing system, leaving six people injured.
It is a Beechcraft King Air 100, identified with the registration number YV1306 and white in color, which had a defect in the front landing gear during the approach to the runway. Official sources indicated that the failure forced the crew to execute emergency maneuvers to land on the runway, which led to the collapse of the train and caused considerable structural damage to the aircraft due to the strong impact against the asphalt.
The incident generated the immediate activation of emergency protocols. Paramedics on duty went to the scene to treat the occupants of the aircraft. The preliminary official balance confirms that six people were injured and received medical attention at the site. So far, the severity of the injuries or the identity of the passengers and crew have not been revealed, although it was confirmed that all occupants were evacuated in a timely manner.
As a result of the accident, air operations at the terminal were limited for several minutes. The runway remained disabled while rescue and security teams worked to remove the stricken aircraft, causing delays and concern for passengers waiting in the boarding rooms.
After 5:00 in the afternoon, the airport authorities announced the normalization of operations.
