Santo Domingo, DR. – The President of the Republic, Luis Abinader, announced, in his accountability speech, that the General Directorate of Customs (DGA) is working on a project so that payments of taxes and customs fees can also be paid with debit and credit cards.
“This measure simplifies the life of our MSMEs, expanding the channels to comply in an agile, simple and transparent way, reducing friction, time and costs, as the DGII is already accepting,” highlighted the head of state in his speech before the National Assembly.
In this sense, the DGA began a payment pilot in the different administrations and airports of the country. Likewise, in the coming months the entity will put SIGA/Web payments into operation.
Added to these are the pin payments, which can also be made with all the credit cards of the complete ecosystem of banks in the Dominican Republic.
“Because simplifying is also democratizing. And just as we modernize procedures and digitize services, we also transform the way in which the State communicates, educates and projects our values,” the president reaffirmed.
