The Government’s fiscal deficit, between January 1 and February 20 of this year, was RD$29,746.1 millionresult of accrued income of RD$201,247 million and accrued expenses of RD$230,993.1 million, according to the budget execution report corresponding to that period, prepared by the General Budget Directorate (Digepres).
In the first month of the year, the fiscal deficit reached RD$7,660.7 million, due to accrued revenues of RD$119,657.4 million and executed expenses of RD$127,318.1 million.
The fiscal deficit, until the 20th of this month, represented 0.3% of the gross domestic product (GDP). A deficit of RD$80,575.3 million has been budgeted for all of 2026. The primary result, which excludes debt interest, was RD$35,752.8 million.
Payment of interest on public debt amounted to RD$65,498.9 millionwhich represents 0.8% of GDP.
This means that the average daily interest payment on the public debt was RD$1,284.29 million.
Of the amount of interest payments on the public debt, RD$43,273.1 million correspond to the external debt and RD$22,175.1 million to the internal debt. The payment in commissions and other bank expenses of the debt was RD$50.7 million. The Government executed RD$13,459.6 million in capital expenditures, RD$5,570.8 million were allocated to construction. The Ministry of Education led greater execution with RD$43,779.4 million.
