Delcy Rodríguez asked Trump to end the blockade against Venezuela

Delcy Rodríguez asked Trump to end the blockade against Venezuela

The president in charge of the republic, Delcy Rodríguez, asked her American counterpart Donald Trump this Thursday to end the economic blockade and the unilateral sanctions that the Washington government maintains against Venezuela, as an act of good will in light of the improvement of bilateral relations.

“I hope, as friends of the United States and all the countries of the world, that the blockade and sanctions against Venezuela end… our young people have the right to claim their aspirations, our workers have the right to fair wages and income. That is the national sentiment,” said the president during the Great Meeting with Venezuelan Youth in Caracas.

Rodríguez took advantage of the event to respond to what President Trump said in his speech before Congress, in which he called Venezuela a partner country with which he has very good relations.

“President Trump, as friends, as partners who are opening a new agenda of cooperation with the United States, end the sanctions now and end the blockade against our homeland because this blockade is also against Venezuelan youth,” he added.

The speech took place in the Ríos Reyna Room of the Teresa Carreño Theater, where he shared with more than 2,200 young people who are dedicated to different artistic and productive activities.

This event, which seeks to highlight the importance of each sector in the development of the country and promote unity among Venezuelan youth, has been made up of 9 areas: Entrepreneurs, Communicators, Barbers and Stylists, Communes, Students, Athletes, Hip Hop, Motorists and Gamers.

The president linked the diplomatic struggle with the spirit of Venezuelan youth, whom she urged to remain firm in the defense of national identity. He stressed that the blockade is not only an economic measure, but a direct attack against the future and the right to development of the youngest people.
