262 panels of marijuana seized in the Caribbean

The Bolivarian National Armed Forces carried out two operations in Zulia with the seizure of 267 panels of drugs, according to published reports.

One of the procedures was carried out in the Castillete sector, Almirante Padilla municipality (El Toro), where the military detected 11 bundles floating adrift in the waters of the Caribbean Sea, containing 262 panels of marijuana, which yielded a total weight of 285 kilos 930 grams.

Details of this procedure were aired on the Instagram account of the National Anti-Drug Command of the Bolivarian National Guard. Agents from the Regional Anti-Drug Intelligence Unit (Uria) No. 11 participated in this procedure.

Also in the aforementioned municipality of Zulia, but on the island of Zapara, military officials located a drug hiding point where there were 5 packages of cocaine that weighed 4 kilos 600 grams. In the area they also found a boat, says the report from the GNB elite group.

Both procedures were carried out within the framework of Operation Catatumbo Lightning, carried out by Fanb in the western entity bordering Colombia.

Last week, Operation Lightning was deployed in the Bolivarian Indigenous Municipality of La Guajira (Sinamaica), where the military unearthed on the shores of a beach the sum of 5,729 panels of marijuana that were packed in 107 bales. The cache had a gross weight of 2,864 kilos and 5 grams, according to reports.

Drugs and birds

In another procedure carried out in Zulia, military personnel detained four individuals who were dedicated to the marketing of drugs and wildlife birds, according to a report published on the Instagram account of the GNB’s Zone 11 Command.

The arrest of the subjects took place in the Capiu sector, Sucre municipality (Bobures) of the Zulia state. They seized 79 mini-packages of cocaine and 21 of marijuana from the subjects.

They also seized 25 birds of different species of wildlife, a motorcycle, three mobile telephone sets and a digital scale.

In another event, the Judiciary of Monagas issued a conviction consisting of 22 years and 8 months in prison for three men found guilty of the crimes of aggravated trafficking of narcotic and psychotropic substances and association to commit a crime.

On the Public Ministry’s website it is reported that the men targeted by said sentence are identified as Elvis Reyes, Alejandro Peña and Carlos Aular.

“These criminals were trying to transport in a transport unit (minibus) 209 kg with 200 g of the alleged drug called marijuana and 2 kg with 2 g of the alleged drug called cocaine, intended for marketing and distribution,” the report says.

Another judicial decision was made by the Judiciary of the state of Miranda, where they agreed to a conviction against two men and two women involved in drug trafficking, the report says.

Two of the defendants are identified as Yendri Cocho and Yendi Carmona, who received 24 years in prison after being found guilty of the crime of illicit trafficking of narcotic and psychotropic substances. 10 kg with 9 g of marijuana were seized from these women, according to the report.

In that same trial, Kleiver Pacheco and Lenin González were sentenced to 11 years in prison for the same crime, the publication says.
