Deputy Jorge Arreaza, president of the Special Commission for Monitoring the Amnesty Law for Democratic Coexistence, reported that the number of requests to benefit from this benefit reached 7,461 cases.
This balance is presented after completing the first week of the approval and publication of the standard in the Extraordinary Official Gazette No. 6,990 dated February 20. The parliamentarian highlighted that the process shows significant progress with a considerable increase in the statistics recorded to date.
So far the courts have granted freedom to 217 prisoners and benefited 3,934 people who maintained precautionary measures. The official report indicates that 4,151 full freedoms have been processed throughout the country.

These figures reflect an acceleration in law enforcement compared to the data presented on Wednesday, February 25, when 185 releases and 3,266 citizens were reported with the definitive cessation of house arrests or judicial restrictions.
Currently, the jurisdictional bodies and the Public Ministry are evaluating 3,011 additional files to verify whether the applicants comply with the 13 cases of violence established in the legal text.
It is important to highlight that the process rigorously excludes the crimes of intentional homicide, very serious injuries and trafficking of narcotic substances. Nor will people involved in serious violations of human rights, crimes against humanity or war crimes as provided for in the Constitution and the Anti-Corruption Law receive the benefits of this regulation.
The implementation of this regulation seeks to contribute to the consolidation of peace and democratic coexistence in the nation through specific justice mechanisms.
The authorities recalled that beneficiaries who commit new crimes after the law comes into force will be prosecuted under current ordinary legislation.
With these technical evaluations, the State guarantees that the amnesty is applied with strict adherence to the principles of legality and respect for the fundamental rights of the victims.
