Expresidente Danilo Medina cuestiona repetición de apagones en menos de cuatro meses

Santo Domingo.– The former Dominican president, Danilo Medina (2012-2020) regretted this Wednesday the occurrence of two general blackouts (one on November 11, 2025 and another on February 23, 2026) in the country in less than four months and expressed hope that the Government can resolve the situation.

Medina, also president of the Dominican Liberation Party (PLD), stated that continuous power outages affect national production and project a negative image of the Dominican Republic abroad.

Impact on the economy and image of the country

“These blackouts harm production and offer a bad image of the country, because this news is spread throughout the world,” he declared when approached by journalists after a meeting at the PLD Presidential Office.

The former president considered that the first blackout should have served as a warning and said that he was surprised that another similar event was recorded in such a short time.
