Havana/The regime is no longer efficient even in issuing its own documents. This Wednesday, the Ministry of the Interior reported, through a statement posted on social networks, that at the moment there are no cards available for the production of identity cards in Cuba. In the publication, the ministry blames the situation on the “tightening of the economic, commercial and financial blockade of the United States Government.”
The note asks people who have requested a new card in recent months to go to the offices of the Directorate of Identification, Immigration and Immigration to request an “Identity certification”, if they do not have any other supporting document. Given this extraordinary situation and as a temporary measure, the Ministry of the Interior announces that, regardless of the expiration date, the cards will remain valid “as long as they guarantee the full identification of their holder.” This extraordinary measure includes both book and laminated formats.
The publication assures that, once the country has the necessary supplies, the production of licenses and cards for minors will resume, without giving details about a possible date.
From the Ministry of the Interior, they assure that the production of passports will not be affected by this measure
From the Ministry of the Interior, they assure by telephone 14ymedio that the production of passports will not be affected by this measure, at least for the moment, since they are made “with other material.”
deal with the bureaucracy has been always a headache for Cubans, but in the current context the situation has become even more difficult. Since the “reorganization program” was imposed, following the collapse of the country’s energy system, the bureaucratic chaos has only worsened. People must stand in long lines, often since dawn, without the certainty that they will be able to “resolve” their procedure.
To obtain a document you have to face the apathy and impotence of officials in the face of multiple daily blackouts and precarious salaries. People know that, for the process to move forward, the only way is to give money to an official, preferably in dollars. If all the expenses involved in this tortuous process are added, the figure is outside the scope of the salary of the average Cubanwhich is around 6,649 pesos per month.
It is important to remember that having an identity document in Cuba is mandatory: walking on the street without documentation can lead to arrest.
