A balance of two people died and 53 injured were reported during the last weekend in the state of Táchira.
The information was announced by the director of Táchira Civil Protection, Yesnardo Canal, who added that 48 road accidents were recorded in the entity, which constitutes an increase in road accidents.
Canal reported that the injured were transferred to various healthcare centers, mainly to the San Cristóbal Central Hospital.
He stressed that mitigation campaigns remain active, although he regretted that lack of awareness continues to claim lives.
«We seek to generate a culture. Applying severe penalties is something that is going to be applied so that people become aware, especially motorcycle drivers, whoWho are the number one protagonists of the accidents?said the official.
To stop this situation, Canal announced that the Legislative Council is in the final phase of reviewing the Citizen Coexistence Law. The legal instrument, which consists of more than 100 articles, seeks to diversify and toughen the sanctions carried out by the Táchira Police, municipal police and the PNB.
A new regional decree is also expected to regulate the night circulation of motorcycles, a measure that will not affect delivery workers, who will have a special card after verification of their companies’ databases.
