The former Venezuelan presidential candidate Enrique Marquezreleased after a year in prison, sent a message to the diaspora, highlighted the hope of return and called to work with commitment to make national reconstruction possible
Former presidential candidate Enrique Márquez, recently released after a year of detention, attended the White House after being invited by the President of the United States, Donald Trump, in a symbolic gesture that highlights attention on the political transition in Venezuela.
Márquez, who was a political prisoner after running in the 2024 elections and denouncing irregularities, spoke with emotion and hope about the current moment that his country is experiencing. From Washington, the representative of Centrados highlighted the significance of his presence in that country as a historic opportunity “to build the country that we all want”, in that sense, he reaffirmed his commitment to the future of Venezuela.
Enrique Márquez said that he never imagined being in the White House so soon after leaving prison, insisting that the invitation represents a key moment of hope for Venezuelans inside and outside the country. «I think you have to put in the work and build that possibility. The return is soon, my dear compatriots,” he stated, sending a message of firmness to the Venezuelan community both in the United States and in the rest of the world.
