The president of the Chamber of Deputies, Hugo Motta (Republicans – PB), says that there is an agreement with the federal government to be able to vote on the Anti-Faction Bill. Voting could take place this Tuesday (24).
The project has been discussed in the National Congress since October 31st of last year, date on which President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva sent the matter to be analyzed.
In the Chamber, the text was modified by deputy Guilherme Derrite (PP-SP) and there was no consensus among party leaders for voting in 2025. Motta, in an interview with the press this Tuesday, stated that, after a long discussion, it was possible to reach an understanding with the government’s technical team to finally vote on the project.
“Without broad divergences like we had in the other vote here in the Chamber of Deputies. This, in my assessment, is a joint effort so that we can place public security and combating criminal factions as a priority”, stated the president of the Chamber.

“Feather hardening”
He stated that voting is essential to combat the spread of organized crime.
“I think that the Antifaction PL brings a tougher sentence and an update to this new legal framework.” According to Motta, the project will be named after former minister Raul Jungmann (who died in January).
The president of the Chamber stated that, for the voting agreement, the Minister of Justice and Public Security, Wellington Lima e Silva, participated.
“The rapporteur is responding to changes (requested by the government). The text takes into account what was also approved by the Federal Senate”, he said.
