Edmundo González Urrutia affirmed that Venezuela demands coherence and constancy of political leadership. The opponent, asylum in Spain, maintains a permanent work agenda with international and national actors
Edmundo González Urrutia and the opposition leadership, grouped in the Democratic Unitary Platform (PUD), refined strategies and established priorities during a virtual meeting held this Monday, February 23.
The information was shared on social networks by González Urrutia, who stated that Venezuela demands coherence and constancy of political leadership.
“There is clarity in the fundamental line of work: – political freedom – independent institutions – true justice for the victims,” he stated in his message.
González Urrutia is in exile in Spain, after the wave of arrests and persecution that broke out in Venezuela after the 2024 presidential elections, whose results are questioned by the opposition that claims the diplomat’s victory based on the electoral records compiled by table witnesses and kept in the Central Bank of Panama.
Since his exile, on September 8, 2024, González Urrutia maintains an agenda of meetings with both international and national actors.

In this context of adjustments and definition of strategies, after a period of two years without in-person calls to the media, the Unitary Platform offered a press conference this Monday the 23rd in which it established the official position of the bloc regarding the recently approved Amnesty Law.
Delsa Solórzano, president of Encuentro Ciudadano and spokesperson for the coalition, described the legal instrument as a “trap” that seeks to simulate political normalization.
The platform maintained that a real amnesty requires recognition of political persecution and not conditions that force beneficiaries to accept blame for crimes not committed.
