Justice System reviews cases after promulgation of the Amnesty Law

The Judiciary began an uninterrupted day of reviewing files to grant freedoms under the parameters of the new Amnesty Law for Democratic Coexistence.

The Attorney General of the Republic, Tarek William Saab, reported that the Public Ministry and the Supreme Court of Justice (TSJ) coordinate this work together with the Parliamentary Monitoring Commission.

The measure evaluates who opts for the legal benefit, strictly excluding crimes of homicide, crimes against humanity, corruption and drug trafficking.

During the weekend, a high-level technical table operated from the Prosecutor’s Office to expedite processes linked, mainly, to the events of July 28, 2024.

Saab, during an interview with the State channel, highlighted that this effort gives continuity to the clemency policies promoted by President Nicolás Maduro. The execution of these measures was expedited after the announcement by the acting president Delcy Rodríguez; Currently, security bodies validate the technical information of each case to consolidate social peace.

Criminal cooperation with the United States

At the international level, the attorney general announced that Venezuela maintains direct bilateral relations with the United States under the principle of sovereignty.

He clarified that these approaches are part of the Bolivarian Peace Diplomacy and do not obey external instructions or foreign tutelage.

Saab explained that, when the time comes, there will be international criminal cooperation between the Venezuelan Prosecutor’s Office and the Attorney General of the United States, Pamela Bondi. This dialogue seeks to evaluate the reality of the country and move towards the definitive lifting of unilateral coercive measures this year.

Towards the definitive cessation of sanctions

Prosecutor Tarek William Saab stated that one of the most important events after the execution of the Amnesty Law and the development of dialogues with the United States must be the cessation of unilateral coercive measures.

He ratified that this stability process is an effort by Venezuelan institutions to heal the damage caused by the blockade.

Jurisdictional sovereignty and anti-corruption fight

Regarding the PDVSA-Cripto plot, the head of the Public Ministry confirmed that those responsible remain in custody in Venezuelan territory.

He denied versions about alleged foreign guardianship and emphasized that these citizens are legally in the country, facing a policy of zero tolerance against corruption.

Finally, Saab recalled that those who are abroad and wish to benefit from the Amnesty Law must adapt to national legality and submit to the competent institutions.
