Cuban government creates the TRANSMED company to transport health personnel

LIMA, Peru – Eduardo Rodríguez Dávila, Minister of Transportation in Cuba, reported on the creation of a new state company called TRANSMED, aimed at guaranteeing the mobility of health personnel in Havana in the midst of the existing fuel crisis on the Island.

“In a scenario of serious limitations with public transportation in general, exacerbated by the lack of fuel, prioritizing the health sector has a special meaning due to its impact on the lives of the people,” he said. the headline on Facebook.

According to him, TRANSMED was created through coordination between the ministries of Public Health and Transportation, together with provincial authorities. The company will offer pre-established routes that connect hospitals in the capital, as well as passenger and cargo transfer services linked to the health sector, including the movement of patients undergoing special treatments.

The initial park is made up of 25 combustion buses with capacity for 28 passengers and nine electric minibuses for 13 people each, operated by specialized personnel.

Rodríguez Dávila assured that during the positioning and return to base tours, the units will also be able to transport the general population for a fee of 20 pesos per passenger.

The initiative also contemplates the delivery to other provinces of 15 minibuses and 34 electric vans intended for similar functions, operated by territorial transport companies.

According to the minister, progress is currently being made in the installation of charging stations with solar panels and storage systems to avoid additional pressure on the national energy system.

The investment, more than five million dollars, was financed by the Fund for the Development of Public Transportation of the Ministry of Transportation, while the operating cost in national currency will be covered by the health budget of the Government of Havana.
