Officials from the Scientific, Criminal and Criminal Investigation Corps (Cicpc) arrested three people who were practicing dentistry illegally.
The director of the police force, Douglas Rico, reported through his Instagram account that the detainees were identified as Luis Mendoza (76), Luisa Mendoza Faríñez (46) and Yojama Del Valley Uti (38), who carried out various and delicate interventions without having professional titles or legal permits.
According to the police report, these people carried out their activity in a clandestine clinic that did not meet the minimum health requirements.
Based on the investigations carried out by the agents, tooth extractions and gum treatments were carried out at the site with the application of anesthesia in an irresponsible manner. These interventions, which normally require a specialized surgeon, were performed by the three men in an environment that presented deplorable hygienic conditions.
The premises operated in a hidden manner and did not have any accreditation from the health authorities.
Without the required hygiene or adequate equipment, the risk of infections or serious complications for those who came to the scene was extremely high.
After the raid and verification that none of those involved had studies in dentistry, the officials proceeded to immediately arrest them for the crime of usurpation of functions.
The case has already been placed at the disposal of the Public Ministry to continue with the judicial process.
