FIFA has unlocked one million dollars (900,000 euros) to help the victims of the humanitarian crisis in Ukraine caused by the invasion of the Russian army, announced this Saturday the instance of world football.
This sum should allow “respond to the needs that have been identified as the most urgent”, said FIFA, which had already sent emergency material to Ukraine through its foundation.
“The FIFA Foundation is ready to provide a part of the aid necessary working in concert with the football communities in Ukraine and in the region,” said the body’s president Gianni Infantino, quoted in the statement.
Since the beginning of the conflict, on February 24, the world of football has multiplied the initiatives to support the Ukrainian people.
As a result of the attack, FIFA sanctioned Russia, depriving him of playing the qualifying playoff for the World Cup in Qatar.
Another measure taken by the body has been to allow Ukrainian players and foreigners who play in the Ukrainian and Russian championship being able to sign for another club without waiting for the opening of the next summer ‘mercato’.
