Abinader promotes security and connectivity in Villa Riva with new works

Abinader impulsa seguridad y conectividad en Villa Riva con nuevas obras

Villa Riva, Duarte. —The president Luis Abinader This Sunday he led the inauguration of the gabion wall and the adaptation of the Yuna River in the community Ceiba of the Birdsalong with the opening of a new highway that connects Villa Riva with the Northeast Highwaytwo projects aimed at strengthening the securitythe agricultural production and the regional connectivity.

The president also became the first acting ruler to visit this district, where he announced new interventions to promote the development of the Duarte province.

Flood protection and peace of mind for families

The construction of gabion wallexecuted by the National Institute of Hydraulic Resources (INDRHI), puts an end to the historic floods that affected the area, guaranteeing safety to 800 families and protecting more than 153 thousand tasks planted with rice.

The work has 224 linear meters and 7 meters highand includes a park 746 square meters and a children’s area 77.25 square meters.

The director of the INDRHI, Olmedo Caba Romanorecalled that previously the water of the Yuna River flooded the homes and that until a year ago no one imagined seeing this infrastructure completed.

During the event, the president highlighted that his administration is carrying out long-awaited investments in Duarte and announced the rehabilitation of schools, cafeterias and roofs, in addition to instructing the Dominican Hydroelectric Generation Company (EGEHID) to accelerate protection work in Arenoso and the delivery of the road to Villa Riva next year.

The Yuna River, which originates in the Ébano Verde scientific reserve and flows into Samaná Bay, is vital for the agricultural irrigationthe cultivation of rice and the drinking water supply of Bajo Yuna.

New highway boosts economy and connects the northeast

On the same day, the head of state inaugurated the highway that connects Villa Riva with the Northeast Highway, a strategic route 10.3 kilometers built by the Ministry of Public Works and Communication (MOPC) as part of the National Road Modernization Program.

The work directly benefits more than 50 thousand people and improves mobility towards the tourist centers of Samaná, strengthening regional trade and territorial integration.

The Minister of Public Works, Eduardo Estrella, highlighted that the new road will improve transportation of the agricultural productionwill reduce logistics costs and optimize travel times to national markets.

For his part, the mayor of Villa Riva, Leonardo López, valued the works carried out in the current administration, pointing out that in the last two decades the municipality received few investments in infrastructure.

Development, security and opportunities for the region

The new road incorporates signage, storm drainage, sidewalks and curbs, as well as structural stabilization to guarantee its durability. The road also raises the road safetyfacilitates access to essential services and strengthens opportunities in commerce, transportation and tourism.

With these interventions, the Government seeks to reduce flood risks, improve agricultural logistics and consolidate Villa Riva as a productive and logistical axis of the northeast, promoting a modern infrastructure, community safety and sustainable economic development.
