The World2Fly airline of the Iberostar tourism group will temporarily suppress, from mid-March to early July, one of its two weekly frequencies with which it operates between Madrid and Havana, due to the situation of lack of fuel in the Caribbean country.
The company, based in Palma, explained to EFE this Friday that the current situation in the country in relation to fuel has generated adjustments in its operations and is implementing measures aimed at guaranteeing “the continuity and proper functioning” of its operations.
Thus, World2Fly, which offers two weekly frequencies between Madrid and Havana -on Wednesdays and Sundays-, will temporarily suppress the latter starting next March 15 to resume it on July 5.
This measure is in addition to the one adopted since last February 11 to refuel in Santo Domingo upon returning from flights from Havana to Madrid, after the Cuban authorities warned of the unavailability of aviation fuel (JET A1) at the country’s international airports.

The other two Spanish companies that fly to Cuba, Iberia and Air Europa, also make a technical refueling stop in Santo Domingo on the return journey from Havana’s José Martí International Airport to Madrid.
However, both continue with their usual operations between both capitals and, at this time, they do not foresee frequency adjustments on this route, as sources from Iberia and Air Europa told EFE today.
Iberia flies between both capitals with three weekly frequencies, while Air Europa does so with six, which it will expand to a daily flight between the next months of July and September (exactly from the last week of June).
