Defenders shine and Flamengo beats Bragantino in the Brazilian Women’s Championship

The defenders were the protagonists of the night at the Luso-Brasileiro Stadium. This Friday (20), Flamengo beat Red Bull Bragantino 4-2, in Rio de Janeiro, in the second round of Series A1 (first division) of the Brazilian Women’s Football Championship. The match was broadcast live on TV Brasil.Defenders shine and Flamengo beats Bragantino in the Brazilian Women’s Championship

Meninas da Gávea reached their second victory and six points in the competition. In their debut, the red-blacks beat Mixto, 1-0, at Dutrinha, in Cuiabá, also broadcast by the broadcaster of Brazilian Communications Company (EBC). Massa Bruta, who started their campaign in the Brasileirão by beating Ferroviária 2-0 at the club’s Performance & Development Center, in Atibaia (SP), continues with three points.

The hosts took the lead in the first minute of the game. After a cross from the right, the defense cleared it badly, goalkeeper Letícia didn’t hold on and the defender Núbia was left with the ball, who sent it into the net. At 20, midfielder Djeni hit from the edge of the area, Letícia rebounded and full-back Jucinara completed the goal.

Four minutes later, midfielder Rafa Mineira took a corner from the right and Camila Ambrósio, taking advantage of the mistake of the marking, finished in the corner, reducing for Bragantinas. At 44, however, another defender found the net. This time, Layza Cavalcante, headed a cross from Monalisa on the left, scoring Rubro-Negro’s third.

Flamengo remained dominant in the second stage. In the 14th minute, Cristiane had a goal disallowed for offside. In the next minute, the center forward received the ball again in the area, this time in a legal position, and scored, with a header, the hosts’ fourth, in the veteran’s 100th game in the history of the Brasileirão.

At 44, Bragantino reduced it with midfielder Rafa Mineira, who won the tackle from Layza Cavalcante at the edge of the area and shot twice to beat goalkeeper Vivi. Massa Bruta, who had managed little in the second half, tried to launch an attack to look for more goals in stoppage time, but the score did not change.

Verdão 100% and Flu seeks heroic draw

In the match that opened the round, Palmeiras beat Grêmio 2-1 at Passo d’Areia, in Porto Alegre. Midfielder Brena and center forward Bia Zaneratto opened the advantage for the Palestrinas and striker Brenda Woch scored for the Musketeers. The São Paulo teams have accumulated six points in two games, while the Gauchos remain at zero in the table.

Corinthians, current six-time champions, stumbled after finishing 1-1 with Fluminense at the Neo Química Arena, in São Paulo. Forwards Belén Aquino and Jaqueline scored for the Brabas and midfielder Patricia Sochor scored a great goal from outside the box for the Cariocas, who lost defender Karina just before the break.

Timão dominated the final stage and seemed to have victory on track. In the 50th minute, however, goalkeeper Rillary, alone, let the ball slip into the field and striker Bruna Pelé, with an empty goal, left everything the same. The two teams, therefore, reach four points together.
