SANTO DOMINGO.– The Government of USA handed over this Friday afternoon to a Dominican accused of causing the death of a man with a knife in an event that occurred in the municipality of Jarabacoaprovince La Vegain the year 2021.
The accused, Robinson Paez Bonifaciowas brought from New Jersey by federal agents of the US Marshals and of the National Drug Control Directorate (DNCD) on a commercial flight that landed in the Las Americas International Airport. He was immediately transferred to the judicial district of La Vega, where the corresponding process will be heard.
Homicide charges
The extradited person faces charges for the death of Luis Saúl Rodríguez Durán.
According to the file, the incident occurred around 6:30 in the morning of November 21, 2021when Rodríguez Durán was in a grocery store located on the street The Pineapplesector Vera del Yaquein Jarabacoa. There he had an argument with Páez Bonifacio, who allegedly inferred to him four puncture wounds with a knife.

The victim died while receiving medical care at a hospital in Jarabacoa, as a result of a hemorrhagic shock caused by a wound in the abdomen (left mesogastrium), which caused a hemoperitoneum and a retroperitoneal hematomaaccording to the medical report.
Incident details
According to witnesses, the accused became upset about a personal situation and began to insult and physically attack the victim. Both struggled and were separated by those present.
Later, Páez Bonifacio would have taken advantage of a moment of distraction to look for a knife that he kept on the motorcycle on which he was traveling. Upon returning, he attacked Rodríguez Durán, causing the wounds that ended his life, after which he fled.
Extradition process
The extradition process was carried out in a joint action by the Directorate of International Legal Assistance, Extraditions and Human Rights of the Public Ministryrepresented by the deputy attorney Osvaldo Bonillaand the La Vega Prosecutor’s Officeheaded by the prosecutor Aura Luz García Martínez.
