Public Health will work with medical societies against the rise of therians

He Ministry of Public Health reported that work together to the Societies of Psychiatry and Psychology to analyze the social phenomenon related to the so-called “therians”, which has generated debate in different sectors.

“We, from the Ministry’s point of view, are working with the Society of Psychiatry and the Society of Psychology aware,” replied the minister Victor Atallah When asked on Friday about the rise and popularity obtained in recent days by this phenomenon that is attractive to the public, for the most part, teenager.

A therian is a person who is identified as an animal and not as a human, maintaining that it is not a costume, a role-playing game or necessarily an aesthetic preference, but rather an experience that makes him feel that he carries the chosen animal within his being.

On social networks a open call for this February 26where the therians of the Dominican Republic are invited to a “gathering”, scheduled for 3:00 in the afternoon at the Juan Pablo Duarte Parkin the Colonial Zone.

He Minister Atallah explained that the approach to this social phenomenon will be carried out from the technical and scientific field, without stigmatizing to no person.

“Us we do not stigmatize to anyone, because we don’t have to stigmatize anyone,” stated.

He indicated that the Ministrythrough the Department of Mental Health and in coordination with the National Health Service (SNS), evaluates the situation to determine its impact.

Passing fad?

He Dr. Atallah considered that it could be a temporary phenomenon.

“I think people saw one, two and ten more and 15 more joined in. People like to join in things… wait for the fad to pass, because I deduce that it is a temporary fashion“, express.

However, he acknowledged that the simultaneous emergence of these behaviors draws attention and deserves analysis.

“I think that something is happening what is motivating that all of a sudden all this kind of stuff is coming out,” pointed out.

The minister made a wake up call to remind the citizens that “those types of actions have an impact on other people as well and they should try to do things more calmly.”

Public health reiterated that it will continue to observe the behavior of the phenomenon and will promote career guidance when necessary, prioritizing the emotional and social well-being of the population.
