Ten forest fires were recorded in Delta Amacuro in two weeks

In the last two weeks, more than 10 forest fires have been recorded between the municipalities of Tucupita and Casacoima, in the state of Delta Amacuro, according to reports from affected residents. Six of these incidents occurred in the capital of Delta.

Last Tuesday, residents of Villa Bolivariana (Tucupita)—where nearly two thousand people live—reported a forest fire whose smoke invaded their homes for approximately two hours. The entity’s fire department responded to the case and managed to extinguish the flames at the point of origin.

However, the fires are not limited to Tucupita; In the Casacoima municipality, firefighters have extinguished four medium-sized fires in sectors such as El Triunfo and Sierra Imataca.

Given this situation, communities adjacent to forested areas fear that the fire will reach their homes. During the summer, recurrent fires increase the risk.

The smoke also reaches the center of Tucupita, thus affecting people with respiratory diseases, but also visibility on the roads.
