Delcy signs Amnesty Law and asks to review cases not contemplated as quickly as possible

The acting president, Delcy Rodríguez, signed her signature to give way to the promulgation and execution of the Amnesty Law for Democratic Coexistence, which was presented to her on Thursday night by the AN Special Commission for monitoring the Amnesty Law headed by the president of the National Assembly, Jorge Rodríguez.

The president in charge asked the Parliament’s Monitoring Commission, the Program for Democratic Coexistence and Peace and the president of the Commission for the Judicial Revolution, Diosdado Cabello, to review the cases not contemplated in the Amnesty Law as quickly as possible.

In his opinion, a new stage is opening in the life of the country, because it is urgent to restore democratic coexistence and justice and heal the wounds.

«We are guaranteeing a future of peace, coexistence and peace for our youth. It has been an act of greatness and abandonment of intolerance by those of us who have been politically active these last 25 years and opening new avenues for politics in Venezuela. We come from dramatic moments for the republic, from January 3 that will be recorded in history as an unprecedented aggression by a nuclear power through military aggression. That touched our souls and consciences as good Venezuelans. “I am glad to have them here, because it reflects a deep process of reflection, and I am not only referring to the opposition, but to all the political actors in our country, to show the world what we are capable of.”

He recalled that it was on January 30 when he announced the amnesty law that would contemplate the entire political process since 1999 with violent events for political purposes “that often led to hate crimes and some to justify external aggression against Venezuela,” which is why he considers that in 20 days the political maturity of all those who have participated has been demonstrated, not only in the Venezuelan parliament, but in the Program for Peace and Coexistence, which made a wide consultation.

You have to know how to ask for forgiveness

The president in charge considers that the debate on this law has not been limited to the amnesty for crimes originating from political violence, but has gone further “so that Venezuela can reunite and learn to live democratically, get rid of hatred and intolerance, that human rights, love, understanding, recognition prevail, and I say this from my Chavista position. “You have to know how to ask for forgiveness and you also have to know how to receive forgiveness, and that is the process that opens with this amnesty law, which goes further,” he expressed.

Rodríguez highlighted the tough debates that have taken place in the discussion of this norm, which has made it possible to have a law passed unanimously.

For his part, the president of the National Assembly highlighted the public consultation to which the norm was submitted, as well as the unanimous approval of the law within parliament. “The deputies have set the example, there were tough discussions, diverse opinions in the construction process, but we sought the necessary consensus,” he said.

Likewise, he presented to the president in charge the members of the Special monitoring commission that will develop and implement mechanisms to ensure compliance with the Amnesty Law and “will attend to any person who would like to be heard within the framework of application of the standard.”

This commission will be chaired by Deputy Jorge Arreaza and the vice president will be Deputy Nora Bracho and will be made up of the following deputies: Pedro Infante, Grecia Colmenares, Carolina García, Thania Díaz, Nicolás Maduro Guerra, Pedro Carreño, América Pérez, Iris Varela, Jaqueline Faria, Roy Daza, Francisco Torrealba, Stalyn González, Juan Carlos Alvarado, Rubén Luna, Luis Florido, David Uzcátegui, Antonio Ecarry, Pablo Pérez, Rubén Limas, Alejandra Rodríguez and Alfonso Campos. It should be noted that the president of parliament also incorporated the name of deputy Cilia Flores as a member of this commission.

He clarified that this commission, together with the Program for Democratic Coexistence and Peace chaired by the Minister for Culture, Ernesto Villegas, will be in charge of channeling any case that must be attended to by that law.
