The department of Colonia has its first Community Development Center, a space designed to provide comprehensive care to homeless people.
The project in Colonia del Sacramento, promoted by the Ministry of Social Development (Mides), enabled a large house that will function as a home-shelter and center for activities aimed at social inclusion. The official inauguration will take place on March 6 at 6:30 p.m. and will be attended by Minister Gonzalo Civila.
In addition to offering temporary accommodation, the center will develop workshops and training proposals to promote tools for autonomy and social insertion. According to the departmental director of Mides, Maxi Olaverry, the space aims not only to address the housing emergency, but also to generate support processes that favor the reintegration of users.
