José María Balcázar: “We are no longer in time to fight, there are no right or left”
The new head of state, José María Balcázar, gave his first message to the nation after receiving the presidential sash and said he felt “honored” by the support obtained by Congress.
“I feel honored with your vote to be able to tell Peruvians: ‘It is possible to build democracy,'” he expressed.
In addition, he said that the fight against crime requires urgent action. “We have to pacify the country. We can do it in a single month, it’s a matter of getting to work,” he said.
