Two men and a woman are arrested for attacking vehicles with stones on the Eastern Highway

Detienen a dos hombres y una mujer por ataque con piedras a vehículos en la Autovía del Este

Santo Domingo.– Agents of the National Police arrested three men in flagrante delicto this Wednesday accused of throwing stones at vehicles on the Eastern Highwaynext to the toll in the city of La Romana, presumably with the intention of forcing drivers to stop to assault them.

The detainees were identified as Julio Adorfo Aquino Solano, alias “Rolandito”25 years old; Julio Laureno Santana, alias “Julio”29; and Yufreisi Martínez Sánchez33, all residents of the Villa Caoba sector, Villa Hermosa municipality, La Romana province.

The intervention was carried out by members of the Central Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DICRIM), after complaints circulated on social networks and digital media warning that several individuals were throwing stones at moving vehicles to force their occupants to stop and strip them of their belongings.

During the arrest, the agents seized two of the detainees with machete-type knives, approximately 20 and 21 inches, which they were carrying at their waists.

In addition, a bag with several stones was found at the scene, which presumably would be used to attack the drivers.

The three men were placed under the control of the Public Ministry, while the authorities reinforced surveillance in the area to prevent new events and guarantee the safety of those who travel along that road.
