This year 3.7 million international tourists would arrive

This year, Peru would receive 3.7 million international touristswhich would represent a growth of 8% compared to 2025, Scotiabank estimated. One of the reasons for these expectations is the favorable progress of the economy.

However, despite this result, the figures would still be far from the 4.4 million registered before the pandemic. The financial entity also indicated that the foreign exchange income from inbound tourism is projected to be around US$5.85 billion.

“In the medium term, the potential for the development of inbound tourism is interesting, taking into account Peru’s tourist attractions, the recovery of global tourism and the public investments – in road infrastructure and connectivity – and private investments – hotel infrastructure – that are being made in order to enhance the Peruvian tourism product,” Scotiabank indicated.

Likewise, he pointed out that one of the challenges of the sector is to improve the management of the sale of physical tickets in Machu Picchu Pueblo, since since August 2022 the Ministry of Culture authorized the sale in this location of up to 1,000 tickets.

“Another factor that would contribute to the growth of the sector would be the evolution of domestic tourism, having registered 46.3 million trips in 2025, 5% above 2024, but still 5% lower than the level of 2019,” he indicated.
