Santo Domingo.– The United States Government, through the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE)deported to the Dominican Republic 91 Dominican citizens who served sentences in prisons in that country for the commission of different federal crimes.
The group is made up of 83 men and eight women, who were transferred on a commercial flight from Alexandria and arrived at Las Américas International Airport Dr. José Francisco Peña Gómezwhere they were received under strict security measures.
According to the data provided, the repatriates faced charges for crimes such as drug trafficking, homicide, money laundering, assaults, contract killings and sexual assault, among other infractions classified in US federal legislation.

Upon arrival in the country, the authorities activated an extensive security device made up of airport personnel, Immigration inspectors and members of different State security agencies, who assumed the corresponding protocol for these cases.
This type of repatriation is part of the immigration cooperation agreements between both nations, through which Dominican citizens who are serving sentences in the United States are returned to the country once their judicial processes and custodial sentences are concluded.
