For this purpose, the Public-Private Interinstitutional Coordination and Collaboration Agreement for the installation of the CIIGEF was signed by the Association of Banks of Mexico (ABM), the Mexican Association of Private Capital (Amexcap), the Mexican Association of Insurance Institutions ( AMIS), the Mexican Association of AFORES (Amafore), the Bank of Mexico (Banxico), the National Commission for the Protection and Defense of Users of Financial Services (Condusef), the National Commission of the Retirement Savings System ( Consar), the CNBV, the National Insurance and Bonding Commission, the National Banking and Securities Commission (CNSF), the Trusts Established in Relation to Agriculture (FIRA), the Ministry of Finance and Public Credit (SHCP), and the National Institute of Women (Inwomen).
Despite the fact that progress has been made in Mexico to reduce different gender gaps in recent years, there are still aspects to address in terms of equity, since according to the same CNBV survey, 44% of financial entities recognize the need of having financial products for women, but only 14% have a product for them.
In this sense, the Interinstitutional Committee for Gender Equality in Financial Institutions intends to develop proposals and share experiences among financial institutions to achieve balance in the representation of decision-making positions, promote education and financial inclusion of women, prevent and eradicate discrimination, harassment and sexual harassment, as well as other forms of gender violence.
