VTV noted that Abdulrahman Al Thani’s visit “has as its main objective to fulfill a broad work agenda that seeks to enhance and strengthen diplomatic relations and strategic cooperation.”
The head of Government of Qatar visits Venezuela a little more than a month after the United States captured Nicolás Maduro, and his wife, Cilia Flores, during a series of attacks on Venezuelan territory.
Three days after these events, Doha offered to mediate and participate in international efforts to achieve an “immediate peaceful solution.”
He also called for “resolving disputes through dialogue.”
Subsequently, the Venezuelan government thanked Qatar for its willingness to contribute to the construction of a work and dialogue agenda between Washington and Caracas, which have already resumed their diplomatic ties, broken in 2019.
