Eleven people were injured and another five died after a van collided with the back of a truck, at km 52 of BR-020, in Planaltina, close to the border between the Federal District and Formosa (GO), at around 4:50 am this Tuesday (17). The van was coming from Santa Rita de Cássia (BA) to Brasília.
According to the Federal Highway Police (PRF), the van was carrying 16 occupants. The truck was traveling in the right lane and the truck driver was not injured. The alcohol test carried out by the PRF was negative.
“The injured were rescued and taken to health units in the region. The driver of the truck was taken to the 16th Civil Police Station, in Planaltina (DF), to provide clarification”, informed the PRF.
According to the PRF, Operation Carnival actions will continue until Wednesday (18), with increased personnel and the overt presence of teams on all federal highways in the Federal District and surrounding areas.
“The objective is to intensify inspection and preserve lives during the long holiday.”
