Keiko Fujimori rules out Fuerza Popular assuming the Presidency: “We are not going to generate more instability”

In the midst of the political debate taking place in the Congress of the Republic about the motions against President José Jerí, the leader of Popular Force, Keiko Fujimori, He established a clear position: his party will not promote censure or seek to assume the Presidency in the event of a possible dismissal.

“We are not going to generate more uncertainty”

The former presidential candidate was emphatic in ruling out any internal aspirations. “No congressman from Fuerza Popular is going to run for the position of president of the Republic,” he stated before the press, closing the door to speculation about a possible replacement from his bench.

In addition, he specified that they have not held meetings to evaluate possible names and that his group has already issued an official statement setting out its position. As explained, the bench’s vote will be absentee, in line with the decision adopted.

For Fujimori, the parliamentary debate must be developed with “political maturity” and within democratic channels. He stressed that it is up to the institutions to investigate the facts attributed to the president without rushing decisions that could aggravate the political scenario.

Criticism of the president, but without support for censorship

Although she refused to promote a dismissal, the Fuerza Popular leader was critical of the head of state. He indicated that José Jerí has generated a political crisis due to behavior that he described as not very transparent and maintained that his credibility has been affected.
