Huánuco: Father loses his life after falling into the river and his daughter survives

Father and daughter fell into the Huallaga River with the vehicle in which they were traveling, after the unit got lost at kilometer 191 of the Central Highway, near the Tecte sector, in the district of San Rafael, province of Ambo.

The driver, identified as Jorge Jara Fretel (69), was trapped inside the Kia Sportage car with license plate W1Q-053, which ended up with the wheels up in the middle of the river. Despite rescue efforts, he lost his life at the scene.

His daughter, Norma Jara Callupe (20), who was traveling as co-pilot, was rescued by transporters and passengers passing through the area. The young woman was initially transferred to the San Rafael health center and later evacuated to the Hermilio Valdizán Regional Hospital Regional Hospital to receive specialized medical care.

The causes of the accident are the subject of investigation by the specialized unit of the National Police, which carried out the corresponding procedures at the scene. The driver’s body was transferred to the Ambo morgue by order of the Public Ministry.
