The Amazonas Fire Department reinforced the number of personnel and equipment used in the search for those missing from the shipwreck in Manaus. The boat Lima de Abreu XV left the capital of Amazonas bound for Nova Olinda do Norte last Friday (13) when it sankleaving two dead and seven missing.
Through social media, the corporation reported that a helicopter, drones and more sophisticated sonar, with lateral and vertical scanning, reinforce the actions of firefighters in the search for the missing. The equipment is the result of a partnership with the government of the state of São Paulo.
Also according to the corporation, the fire department base located in the port of Manaus will also be used as a support point to assist family members of shipwreck victims. The government of Amazonas reported that assistance includes the work of social workers and psychologists.

The speedboat Lima de Abreu XV sank on Friday afternoon near Manaus, in the region where the Negro and Solimões rivers meet. In all, 71 people were rescued by another vessel passing by.
The Fire Department, Civil Defense, Navy and social assistance and security teams were mobilized to search, rescue and support the victims. Divers immediately began searching the area of the accident.
The two dead are a 22-year-old woman and a female child, approximately 3 years old. The child was rescued by rescue teams and taken to the Children’s Hospital and Emergency Room, in the east zone of Manaus, but was admitted to the unit already dead.
