The tranquility of a hotel located in the Simón Bolívar neighborhood, in the southeast of Barranquilla, was interrupted this Saturday morning after the discovery of the lifeless body of a German citizen in one of its rooms. The Metropolitan Police confirmed that the victim was identified as Yann Victor Schule36 years old, who had been staying there for several days with a compatriot.
According to the initial report, Schule had been staying at the Casa Rueda Hotel since February 12, in the company of Dirk Schielmann, 55 years old. The latter was found in a state of deep drowsiness by the establishment’s officials and later transferred to the Hospital Universidad del Norte, in Soledad, to receive medical attention and be evaluated for possible poisoning.
The uniformed officers who attended the case immediately began the technical inspection of the site. They reviewed security cameras, interviewed employees and carried out lophoscopic exploration work to reconstruct the last hours of the foreigners. The images revealed that both had entered the hotel during the early hours of the morning accompanied by two women, who left the place about an hour and a half later.
Although Yann Victor Schule’s body did not show visible signs of violence, the investigators established as their first hypothesis a possible poisoning by scopolamine, a substance that in recent years has been linked to cases of theft and assaults in different cities in the country. The authorities are seeking to determine if the women who accompanied them are related to the incident.
The Metropolitan Police continues to track external cameras in the area and collect information that allows the chronology of the event to be clearly established. The official opinion of Forensic Medicine is also awaited, which will determine the exact cause of death of the German citizen and the clinical condition of his companion.
Meanwhile, the hotel remains under strict surveillance and the investigation is advancing to clarify who the women who were with the foreigners are and what their participation was in the tragedy. The authorities have insisted on caution when spreading conjectures, but recognize that the case has characteristics associated with possible crimes by third parties.
