Ready plan to attend emergencies on roads due to winter wave

The National Roads Institute (INVÍAS) reported that so far this year it has served 340 emergenciesevents that caused total and partial closures on national roads.

In the case of the department of Nariño, there has been 117 events. It currently has a total closure on the Cebadal – Sandoná – Santa Bárbara road and partial closures in: Túquerres – Samaniego, on the Cebadal – Sandoná – Santa Bárbara road, Junín – Túquerres, Pasto – Buesaco – Higuerones, Pasto – Mojarras, Pasto – La Piscicultor, and Santa Bárbara – Pasto.

The Department of Huila presents 71 eventsCauca has 35 events, Caldas 23 between partial and total closures.

The Minister of Transport, Ángela María Orozco Gómez, assured: “The Ministry of Transport through Invías during the first months of 2022 has attended to 340 emergencies and with the continuous work of more than 3,600 micro-entrepreneurs, cooperatives and road administrators, the passage has been guaranteed to transporters and road users to to travel safely on the country’s highways”.

Carolina Barbanti, Technical and Structuring Director (E) of INVÍAS reported that, “only in the month of March 154 emergencies have been registered, of which 71 are total closures and 83 partial closures mainly due to landslides, falling plant material and rocks. To date, there are a total of 152 total closures and 188 partial closures, records with a cutoff date of March 18, 2022.”

He added that, “The INVÍAS risk management sub-directorate has sent a circular to the directors of the 26 territorial offices of the country so that the pertinent measures are taken in the face of the risks that may arise due to the rains forecast by IDEAM, which is why which, the contingency plans are activated and resources are ready for $5,000 million from the Exhaustible Amount program with which machinery or equipment can be contracted to deal with situations immediately”.

In this way, the Ministry recommended to the 26 directors of Invías activate protocols with: Highway police, area contractors, non-refundable contractors, maintenance of Comprehensive Road Management, the Conclude and legality programs, as well as the respective coordination with micro-entrepreneurs, road administrators and municipal and departmental entities.

This seeks to keep the information updated and monitor critical sites 24 hours a day with regard to possibles risks or threats to transitability.

According to data provided by Ideam, (Institute of Hydrology, Meteorology and Environmental Studies) in the last few hours there have been locally moderate to heavy rains with electric shocks in the central and southern departments of Chocó, western Caquetá, areas of Amazonas, Putumayo, western Guaviare, central-southern Meta, sectors of Caldas, Risaralda, western Boyacá, northwestern Cundinamarca and southern Antioquia.
