The Spanish airline Air Europa will resume its flights to Venezuela this Tuesday, February 17. It will then be followed by Plus Ultra, which will do so at the beginning of March, and followed by Iberia, which will return to the country in April.
The reactivation of the Madrid-Caracas routes of Spanish airlines occurs after the lifting of the restrictions that affected air connectivity since the end of November last year.
On November 24, 2025, the State Aviation Safety Agency (AESA) issued its recommendation not to fly to the Latin American country for safety reasons, after it was the Federal Civil Aviation Authority of the United States (FAA) that advised not to cross the Venezuelan sky and the southern Caribbean.
Since then, the three Spanish companies temporarily suspended their operations, prioritizing safety, in line with the recommendations of the AESA and its European counterpart AEASA and the subsequent revocation of operating permits by the Venezuelan aeronautical authorities.
The National Institute of Civil Aeronautics of Venezuela has already announced the elimination of any restrictions on Spanish companies.
Air Europa will gradually reactivate its operations to the South American country with three weekly flights in February that will be expanded to four during the first three weeks of March and, finally, to five.
The company confirms on its website that, in February, it will operate between Madrid and Caracas on Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays; and, in March, on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays; while, for flights starting on March 21, it will report any news through its usual channels.
Plus Ultra will resume its regular flights between Madrid and Caracas starting next March 3, initially operating two weekly frequencies, on Tuesdays and Thursdays; and, as of March 28, it will incorporate a third between both capitals and the weekly Tenerife-Caracas flight, thus reinforcing connectivity between both markets.
Plus Ultra has highlighted that the resumption of flights to Caracas represents “a very important step to restore operational normality with our main destinations and for thousands of families who regularly use our flights between Spain and Venezuela.”
The company adds that it is currently in the process of rescheduling flights, opening sales and coordinating its operational calendar for the month of March, with the aim of offering a progressive and fully guaranteed return of its services on the Madrid-Caracas route.
For its part, Iberia plans to return to Venezuela at the beginning of April and on its website Madrid-Caracas flights appear available from April 7, with three weekly frequencies, on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.
Likewise, this weekend the Venezuelan airline Laser has resumed its flights that connect Caracas with Madrid and Barcelona, while another company from the South American country, Estelar, will do so on April 3.
Other European companies such as the Portuguese TAP will resume their flights with Venezuela on April 4, while the Turkish Turkish Airlines will do so a month earlier, on March 3.
