The Attorney General of the Republic, Tarek William Saab, announced through his social networks the indictment of the citizen, Margarita Rodríguez for the crimes of Animal Abuse (Abandonment) and Apology for the crime, in the context of the investigation into the alleged disappearance of felines delivered under the modality of responsible adoption.
The 86th National Prosecutor’s Office requested precautionary measures before the Control Court that prohibit the accused from possessing any animal while the investigation process is completed. These actions seek to guarantee the protection of the living beings involved and avoid new risk situations.
It should be noted that the woman had been singled out and denounced by numerous animal protectionists and rescuers, who had given her kittens for adoption. The woman claimed to be a responsible professional, dedicated to dentistry, with a stable income, which is why she assured that she would be a good adopter. However, he never responded to messages or reported the status of the pets to the protectionists, in the pet monitoring process that must be done at the time of executing an adoption.
According to official information, four felines were located and rescued, which are currently under protection. The Public Ministry reiterated that, through its management, attacks that threaten animal welfare will not be tolerated, reaffirming its commitment to the defense of animal rights in Venezuela.
This case highlights the importance of citizen awareness regarding the care and respect for animals. Responsible adoption implies a life commitment that cannot be violated. Each action of abandonment or abuse not only affects the living beings involved, but also reflects a lack of sensitivity towards coexistence and respect for nature.
