San Cristóbal drug distributor goes to prison

Santo Domingo.- The Judicial Office of Permanent Care Services of San Cristóbal imposed three months of preventive detention as a measure of coercion against a man accused of heading a structure dedicated to sale and trafficking of controlled substances in the municipality Saint Gregory of Nigua.

The measure was imposed on Michael Peña Arias (Cano)who, by order of the judge José Carlos Arias Ninayou must comply with it in the Correction and Rehabilitation Center (CCR) Najayo Men.

He Public Ministry, represented by prosecutors Ingris Guerrero Polanco and Laura Cecilia Segura Corderoestablished that the evidence collected directly link the accused with activities of drug traffic.

The accused is related to the seizure of 740 grams of cocaine, 106.94 grams of marijuana and 6.50 grams of crackduring a raid carried out on January 30, 2026 in the house where he lived with another man identified with the alias “Lion”.

The prosecution body maintained that the accused presents repeated criminal conductpointing out that he already had coercive measures imposed on January 9, 2026 by gender violenceconsisting of periodic presentation and financial guarantee.

Provisionally, the Public Ministry charges him with violating the articles 5 (literal A), 6 (literal A), 28 and 75 (paragraph II) of Law No. 50-88 on Drugs and Controlled Substances.
