A plane arrives in Venezuela with 109 migrants repatriated from Miami

A plane with 109 migrants repatriated from the United States arrived in Venezuela this Friday from the city of Miami, as part of the Great Mission Return to the Homeland, the state program that manages returns to the country.

The Ministry of the Interior and Justice reported on its Telegram account that 83 men, 15 women, 10 children and a 17-year-old adolescent arrived.

“They were treated by officials from the citizen security bodies, who applied the corresponding comprehensive care protocols to then be reinserted into society,” indicated the State portfolio.

The plane was operated by the American airline Global Crossing, and landed at the Simón Bolívar International Airport in Maiquetía, which serves Caracas.

According to the institution, this is repatriation flight 111 since Caracas and Washington signed a migration agreement at the end of January of last year, which was maintained even amid tensions over the US military deployment in the Caribbean Sea.

Last Wednesday, 125 migrants arrived on a flight also from the city of Miami, according to the ministry.

According to government figures, more than 20,000 people have returned to the South American country within the framework of the Vuelta a la Patria program, which promotes the voluntary return of migrants.
